Happy New Year!

To all of the 2012 Survivors:  Happy New Year! Can you believe it 2013 already! We ade it!
:D

NEEEEEXXT!

I want to apologize for not posting for a while, but The Hobbit: An unexpected Journey had ALL of my attention. :P

Lets close 2012 by me sharing with you a short recap of the rest of my plans for the last couple of weeks of the year (see post titled FUN for more info).
The Wintersun show turned out to be a bust. I missed it due to poor planning on my part. Totally bummed out, but happy that the band is doing so well. Hopefully  that means they'll come back soon!

Good thing the Hobbit was two days after the Wintersun show.It trully was a  pretty awesome movie. There were a few differences from the book, but it was translated pretty well over all. The Dwarves were awesome. Specially the women Dwarves, they had facial hair as they were supposed to. Totally great! I've seen the movie about 5 times now! I cant wait for the next two!
I also did end up going to Wiscon for Xmas with my bf and his family. It was pretty fun. We watched the wedding singer on the way there and I knocked out. When I woke up we were already in Wisconsin. It was pretty cool because they had just finished having a snow storm and there was snow everywhere. Great grub and cool company, both on Xmas eve and Xmas day!
This Xmas was  particularly good in the gift department. I only asked for one thing  i didn't think i was actually going to get. I asked for the special box set celebrating 20 years of Quentin Tarantino which included 8 of his movies ( not excluding True Romance). I was excited to  actually find that under the tree. I also was gifted some elf make up, jewelry, an Exodus shirt, a Blind Guardian Shirt, a really cool Dwarf shirt with only their facial hair ( it also includes Gandalf and Bolbo), The key to Erebor as a keychain,Dance Dance Revolution, and a new bed and mattress. Pretty good Christmas over all.   Hope your holidays were just as awesome.

Now as to keep with the tradition of having new years resolutions I'm going to write down just a couple of mine.*Actually use the New Gym membership I bought
* Be healthy/happy
*save money better
* blog more often :D
* Do well in school
* SELL SELL SELL Mary Kay!
**** Keep Organized!*****
Lets see how well I actually do with keeping these goal! Ill keep you poster :D
I am also wondering if you guys have any New year resolutions ?Or Do you advice on how I can stick to my resolutions?
I would love to hear them, so please comment!

Good luck!

Viva La Pulp!

It has been 20 years of Tarantino! To celebrate this they were showing a couple of his movies in theaters. Seeing that for the past few years I have been wanting to rent a theater for my birthday and watch Pulp Fiction, I had to at least go see that one. Plus it is my favorite movie... after the LOTRs of course,  but that doesn't count lol.
When Pulp fiction was released for the very first time, I was nearly a month old. Being able to see it in theaters this past Thursday was kind of extra special for me.
The experience was amazing.:D
Before the Movie actually began, there was a small segment in which cast members, producers, etc were interviewed about their experience with the movie. Next there were 3 trailers chosen by Tarantino: Machine Gun McCain, Scarface, and The Killer ( a Chinese action film). Totally cool and mood establishing. This is probably a feature that is going to be on the special edition 20 years of Tarantino box set (above). I cant wait to own it!
Watching the movie in theaters made me realize a lot of things that I had over looked before. I payed more attention to the smaller details like his usage of time and camera  maneuvers.I won't review the movie in detail, all I am going to say is that if you haven't seen it already you sure as hell should!

BELOW: Me and Makeup! Lol

Make up Haul! (extended version)

This weekend was crazy in the make up department! Not only was my job busy as can be, but my shenanigans afterwards where just as crazy!

Friday: Like I mentioned in my previous post, this weekend Ulta was giving their employees and extra discount as part of employee appreciation. So I obviously had to rebuild my stash for the next couple of months! This was a good Friday to have the discount because it was Payday as well (obviously done on purpose by Ulta lol ).  But, just to make sure I didn't spend ALL my money I brought along my 16 year old cousin Salma, and she couldn't have been happier.
It was actually her first time shopping for her own makeup, it  honestly was the cutest thing. She kept asking all these questions and it was adorable. I felt like I was walking her through her first steps in to Womanhood or something lol.

That day I collectively (between what I bought her, my other cousin, and myself) bought about $300 worth of beauty products, but only spent about half that. It was amazing!

List of what I bought

What I bought and returned:
NYX Pump it up Clear Lip Plumper- I tried it and it burned my lips. It is supposed to make them tingle, but I guess my lips are just too sensitive.

L'oreal True Match Pressed Powder - I just like my Mary Kay loose mineral powder better.
NYX Lipstick Roun Circe & Revlon Nude Attitude Lipstick Very Nice color, it just didn't mix with my complexion.

NYX Mechanical Lip Pencil RedNYX Mechanical Lip Pencil Jewel - Not the right colors.

List of what Salma bought: Be. Try. Believe. Love. KitMaybelline Dream- Liquid FoundationNYX Eye Shaadow Palette 10ct Caviar BubbleEssie Mint Candy Apple Nail PolishNeutrogena Lip Soother Gleam GlossNYX Matte Lipstick NudeKeep Me Clean ten o six wipes

Also bought: American Crew Pomade Pucks Xs 3

Saturday: This day  I had to work, and I honestly didn't plan on buying anything anymore. But as soon as I got to work my mom calls and asks me to buy her her favorite perfume. I couldn't say no! So my shift ends and I buy her the perfume she wants, which comes with a free pink polka-dotted robe as a Gift With Purchase! I also sneak this ghetto 100 piece palette in my basket.
After I leave work, I head to my cousin Salma's house because I accidentally took her foundation home on Friday. I get there at 8:30, an hour and a half after I get out of work, and  all I want to do is kick my shoes off and relax. NO SUCH LUCK THOUGH! About 20 minutes after I get there my mom calls me and tells me that my other cousin ( who also works at Ulta) is waiting for me at her house a block away, and that I need to head over there immediately because it is an emergency. After a few more minutes of quick relaxation I get up and leave. When I get to my the "emergency" cousins house the first thing I notice is that there are a bunch of people and also a bunch of food. I greet everyone and go on to find my cousin. She notices that I have a bag full of Ulta stuff and gives me that look, like she knew what  I was up to. She then takes me to her stash and shows me what she bought. Way more than I did! Not five minutes go by when she asks me what time my store closes, so we could go pick up some other stuff. We still had about a good 45 minutes to get there. We made a call and got a ride, I served myself, ate in a hurry, and left about ten minutes later. We got to the store with about 20 minutes to shop. We had to quickly pick what we were going to buy, return what we didn't want...
Oh!I also forgot to mention we had 3 young, lovely, nosy children with us. We left about 30 minutes after closing time. I felt so bad for the lovelies closing up shop. None the less we got back to her house and we showed everyone what we got and gave out items to the respective owners. Everyone was super happy getting their stuff, but all I could think of was getting to bed and work the next day. I was soooo exhausted. I made it home by midnight and finally knocked out!

List of what I bought

Sunday: Woke up with the stomach flu! Had to call off work and all!I hate calling in sick!  It was horrible!
All the adrenaline mixed with the fast eating and the pop and the exhaustion really did a number on me.
Never again lol.

I am seriously getting tired just blogging about it! lol.
Hope you guys enjoyed the hectic summary of my  weekend dose of make up. Hope to read your comments soon. And if you have any questions  or similar experience on ANYTHING  relate  feel free to ask and share. Can't Wait.

SEE YOU SOON!

FUN

Exciting things that are happening or that are going to happen:
*In Chronological order...sort of*

1) Stocking up on my make up collection.

This weekend at work we are getting an extra discount as a holiday employee appreciation. I am very excited because I am going to get so much make up! I know i should save my money, but I picked up a few extra hours last week so I can splurge a little.

2)Independent Mary Kay Consultant.
About a week or two ago I decided to become an independent Mary Kay beauty Consultant. It's kind of funny seeming that I already work at a make up store. Although I love all the make up at Ulta, I also really do love Mary Kay. I specially love their eyeliners, mascaras, and mineral powders. This just shows how much of a make up junkie I am! Becoming an independent Mary Kay  beauty consultant is probably one of the things I am most excited for. I get to meet an help new people, make some extra money, and win some amazing prices from the company.

3) Winter Break.
School's out for me next week! Plain and simple!

4)Wintersun is coming.
I get to go see Wintersun live. Everyone who lives on this side of the Earth and are in to this band have been waiting for them to go on tour. Hmm first show of theirs in Chicago, and I get to be there... Pretty exciting Stuff!

5) Hobbit Midnight Screening
This is probably what I am most excited about. I have been waiting for this since the rumors started! I have had a count down on my phone for over a year. I have my costume all set- yup I'm dressing up like a hobbit. I bought my tickets as soon as they came out on sale! I am a LOTR/J.R.R.Tolkien/Hobbit geek!

6) Wisconsin for Christmas
Kind of cool. I've always spend the holidays in Chicago. Maybe not with the same people, but never in a different state. This Christmas, I may go to Wisconsin with my bf and his family. It'd be pretty cool if it happens. Hopefully I can get off work. We'll see though!

Can't wait to post and share with you as this happens!
TTFN!

A bittersweet goodbye.

I was in class today and while we were supposed to be preparing and reviewing for our finals next week my mind was wandering. I got to thinking of all the stuff that has been going on and will be going on in the next couple of months and the years to come. One thing in particular kept coming to mind though.

About two weeks ago, my uncle, who was basically like my dad growing up passed away. He died  due to complications brought on by his stage 4 cancer. Although he did pass away very abruptly, my family and I didn't take it as harshly as we expected. This is not to say he wont be missed and mourned greatly, but I feel we had all braced our selves for what we knew would come one day.

When my uncle was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, almost 3 years ago, he did not stop for one second. My uncle, who was given six months to a year of life did not once let negativity take over. In fact from the beginning he was nothing but a ball of positivity. As the doctors prescribed medications and other treatments to attend to his condition he not once complained. That was something I very much admired about him.

My uncle  was one of those people who would eat ANYTHING and he always accompanied his meal with a cold Old Style. After his diagnosis the doctors suggested that he not drink alcohol and gave him a strict dietary regimen. He would many times joke around with me and tell me that not eating everything he wanted was the hardest thing for him.

I remember one particular time when I had gone over to his house to ensure he was being taken care of while my aunt was at work. We were both eating at the kitchen table, him in his customary side of the table and I on the only other side with no clutter. I do not remember how the conversation got started but as he was munching away at his food he gazed at me very seriously, and not knowing what he was thinking  I gave him a frantic look. After a moment he realized I was intensely confused and becoming a bit panicked, so he began talking. Again, I don't remember his exact words but what he said to me next was just the funniest thing. He started off by telling me how worried he was, but about what I didn't know. He then continued speaking, drawing it out as long as he could with out telling me exactly what he was talking about. The things he was saying sounded very awful and sad. He spoke about families ending up on the street and people losing their jobs. Honestly, I had no idea where this conversation was going and for the life of me couldn't even remember how it began. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, but was probably only about five minutes, he told me the reason of his worries! He paused for a second. Looked at me with a face full of grief that slowly turned in to the biggest grin I had ever seen on his face. "La  Compania de Cerveza voz," (the beer company you)was what he said between the uncontrollable laughter. I was almost on the verge of tears and here he was telling me that he was worried the beer companies were going to go under because he couldn't have his beer with his meal. He was pulling a prank on me! So typical of my uncle, always joking. All I could say  between my laughter and embarrassment was "Ay tio, usted con sus chistes y yo aqui casi llorando," (oh wow unc, you and your jokes, making me almost cry). After that we both just continued laughing, him bragging about how he got me, and me still shocked that he did get me so well. It was a great moment we both shared. One of the many!

Reminiscing about the good times is a nice change of pace from the immediate grief caused by the situation. Moving on will really be a hard thing to do because of the impact he had on me personally and in the lives of other people. He was a great man, and knowing he left in peace does bring about a sense of happiness.I know that where ever he is, he is in a better place and that I am thankful for.

Love you tio.
XOXOXO

How Trendy.

It turns out that now a days Metal is a part of having "SWAG".
I suppose no one who is actually in to these celebrities find it offensive that they are participating or endorsing something they know anything about.
It is one thing to wear a Metallica t-shirt because God knows they've sold out enough for anyone to care... But to wear a Studded Leather jacket with patches of bands like D.R.I, Municipal Waste, or the Cro-Mags? I don't think so. I guess the exposure for these bands is cool and everything, but now all the poseurs are going to feel empowered to take over what isn't theirs.

I just have one question for the fans of the celebrities who partake in this:
Why are you so gullible? Why do you buy in and/or support people who are feeding you shit?

               LADY GAGA SEEMS LEGITIMATE THOUGH
